Beautiful car (and nice photo)! I remember those well. The 400 engine was a step above the "smaller" big blocks (383, 389, 396), although in true competitive fashion, the competition did a lot of work to improve the performance. And then they went to the larger-than-400 engines, 426 (wedge and hemi), 427, 440, 454).

These days, the 5.0 liter "big engine" as found in cars like the Mustang GT are essentially the 302s from yesteryear (not performance sluggards by any stretch, but still displacing less than before).

The 2021 302 Coyote V-8 (5.0L) isn't essentially from yesteryear.

I had a 1968 Firebird 400 convertible , four speed, for about 10 years. It was so much fun to drive but not very dependable. However, I would love to still have that car.

I had one of those. 100K miles in 6 years. Needed a water pump, timing chain and one set of brakes. Did my own work in those days.
