"recently" is a vague term. Is November, 29021 recent? If they offer it to me for free, I'll accept it. I didn't receive the email that you did, though.

The email I received said I had to pay $133.22 AUD to upgrade 2023. Way to much IMO.

talk about misinformation. 2022.5 was FREE update for existing 2022 users. On1 makes a major release in the fall which is On1 Raw 2023. You can buy it as a perpetual or you can buy via SaaS (what muggles call subscription).

all 2022.5 did was incorporate the two new features of NoNoise and Resize AI into On1 Raw. They had been released as standalone plugins for people using apps like Photoshop and Lightroom Classic as well as others.

Topaz is not an all-in-one app, it is a bunch of plugins. They are good and I bought them when On1 had fallen behind. But when On1 created NoNoise and Resize AI which work as an integrated part of On1 2022.5 I stopped using them and didn’t do their renewal for those plus Topaz Sharpen AI which was $99!. But they don’t have a Data Asset Management (catalog) or printing or any other features. They are truly one-horse ponies.

I also have every skylum app since their Macphun days. I will not be buying anything from them again because they have proven themselves repeated to over promise and under deliver with major features in Luminar 3 , Luminar 4, Luminar AI, and Neo NEVER being fixed but promised they would fix them but instead they just put out the next release with a new name claiming it doesn’t have anything to do with the previous release. I feel for them being in the Ukraine so I didn’t ask for my $ back on Neo. And if you haven’t seen their new way to get more money is to release features which are parts of competitive products like creative cloud, On1, Affinity Photo , etc as plugins you have to buy.

On1 Raw 2023 coming out in October as many new features including a sharpening AI function. As an upgrade for an existing customer it is only $79. It adds a ton of new features including a select AI which allows you to point and click on parts of your image to create masks. The only thing I’ve seen that comes close is the new masking features in Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw but they are good at selecting Skies and the reverse of skies. On1 does a ton more that that and then you can apply the fantastic set of effects on your working screen via contextual menu dropdown by a right click. And it isnt creating layers (though you can if you want) but rather keeping all the On1 metadata in a sidecar so the image is never changed. So many other features and I can’t wait. I have Neo (pos), all of creative cloud as I teach Photoshop and Lightroom Classic classes, the topaz suite plus Topaz Studio and Topaz Studio 2 which I use as plugins for creative processing, Affinity Photo which I use for stacking.

you should look at the videos On1 has showing the new features.

November 2021 is nowhere near recent!!! There was free 2022.5 a couple of months ago. By my recollection, recently means within the last two months or so.

Again, check out the videos on the new release - 2023!!!

And you can do the same thing in six months.

Why do you believe you would have to do the same thing again in 6 months? Presumably, you are referring to a 2023.5 update which would be a free update to those who already have a license for
ON1 2023.

How about, "You can do the same thing next year."? The idea is that there is always a great, new version of ON1, and it's so good that you absolutely must buy it. Like the guy on YouTube discussing it: "It will blow your mind." If it's that outstanding, how can I resist? He said right at the beginning that he doesn't have it, and he hasn't actually seen it, and yet, "It will..."

As I noted on another thread, the price for ON1 Photo RAW 2023 with the stand-alone plugins, ON1 Plus and 1 TB cloud storage is $149.99, or alternately, $99.99 for the one-time payment, with all capabilities built in. If you choose the one-time payment way, following years are discounted, NOT increased in price!!!!! I just paid $79.99!!!

You must check it out at: https://www.on1.com/products/photo-raw/ to see how good it actually is. ON1 already is very good, but the new upgrades push it to another level - all others will really have to scramble to try to catch up!

You are correct that one gets a discount on upgrading to ON1 2023 to own. But if you look in the comparison chart you will see that this does not include using ON1 as a plug in with Adobe. For that one must $70 extra per plug in or $150 for the whole plug in bundle. The good news is that they offer stand alone or subscription which is a great choice to those who want to decide for themselves if they need an upgrade. Actually Adobe upped the ante last fall with their introduction to AI in Lightroom now ON1 just upped it yet again with even more precise AI. Given their rate of change they could be a viable stand alone very soon. The question is will they move to subscription only or not?

I ordered it for $59.99. Good deal.

Since my LR6 doesn't deal with NEF files from Z cameras, I'll have to move on.

I hope ON1 never adopts the Adobe approach! Inasmuch as I do NOT need Adobe for anything, I do not use Lightroom/PS, and do not need the plugins. I certainly MUCH prefer to be able to do processing so easily all in ONE application, which now is possible with ON1, which has everything one could need, performed at the highest level available!!! (And it's less expensive, as well.) Interestingly, ON1 is moving faster than any of the others with respect to increasing capabilities and solicits and is responsive to purchaser input. It also has a much BETTER - and easier to use - file handling protocol than Lightroom!!!!! Anyone who will not at least try ON1, really is selling themselves short. There's absolutely no cost for a two week trial of the full program.

They have both subscription and purchase now. I always prefer purchase.
