I know some of you have the DJI Pocket video camera. I cannot get the app loaded onto a cell phone. My Samsung is not eligible, and the app won't load onto the Moto e6. I can download it onto the Moto e6, but when it tries to install, I get a message after a few minutes telling me that it did not install.

I don't really know what the app does, but it must do something to control the camera. The swiveling head seems to have a mind of its own, so I cannot always get it to point where I want. Any ideas?

I don’t know anything about the camera in question, but I found this video. Maybe it will help… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGXRTt1FAxQ

Thanks. Google was going to be my next step.

That video would be great - if the app would load on my phone. Frustrating.

It is called the "Mimo" app. Go here to get it: https://www.dji.com/downloads/products/osmo-pocket

DJI seems to be having a long running dispute with Google (Alpha?). Their apps for my Pocket 2 and Mini 2 (drone) are not found in the Google Play Store. Instead, you get a direct download from DJI. The easy way is to use your phone to go to the DJI download center, download the file and run it.

The Mimo app adds some functionality, including a bigger screen. As I recall, you bought the original Pocket without the "Creator Combo". So it might not add that much.

With the Pocket 2 and "Creator Combo", the Mimo app, among other things, makes a wireless control system. In other words, you can do things like hang your Pocket on a boom and control it with you phone doing creative jib, slider and pan shots.

I can download it onto the Motorola Moto e6, but the installation doesn't complete. At first, told me it might be dangerous, but I went ahead. It won't download onto older Samsung Galaxie J3.

The main problem is the swiveling head not looking where I want it to look. I thought I read something about the app controlling that.

There are three choices (settings) on how the head swivels to respond to your hand motion. Which one are you using?

Apparently, the default. Do I need the app to set that?

The three modes are explained here: https://store.dji.com/guides/three-gimbal-modes-osmo-pocket/

The settings are done with the somewhat confusing menu in the Pocket. I think the app has it too, but you shouldn't need the app for settings. On the Pocket 2, bumping one of the buttons wrong will change the mode.

Thanks. I have another busy day, but I'll take a look at that.

When something gives me a hassle right from the start, I tend to put it aside.

The Pocket 2 is a hassle, mainly because it is weird. It has to be weird to be so capable as a video camera. Once I got past the "hassle of weirdness" and started to understand the intended capabilities, I became a big fan.

My story started with the purchase of a DJI drone. After reading about all the drone rules, I sent it back unopened. I was still fascinated by the gimbal part, so bought the complete Pocket 2 kit with the wireless microphone system. I grew fascinated with DJI's innovative design and engineering so bought a Mini 2 drone a second time. That lead to understanding all the FAA rules and getting the drone license.

The end result is that I'm having more fun than ever before with videography! I have two fascinating video cameras!

So, you are the resident DJI Pocket camera. Good to know.

I'm still working on the computer. Then I have to do housework. I thought retirement was supposed to be fun.

"resident pocket camera...." Probably. I don't fit well into the resident UHH DSLR group and the traditional thinkers don't think much of cameras with such small sensors.

I have the DJI Osmo Pocket but not the 2 and also bought the Action 2 camera. I also fly the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, which is an amazing machine.

So for you the leading camera maker is DJI while Nikon, Canon, etc. are trailing in the dust?
