Why would you have 72000 "messages?" No one is that lazy. Well, maybe some one is.

I have 108,000+ emails in my Gmail account. Do I win the prize for being the most lazy? (It's intentional) Why delete them?? They are on Gmail servers. I "rent" extra space (storage).

Simple- He looks at his emails using a different email client than the primary which does not delete them from the <primary> email server, so they just accumulate.

As I said, deleting from Spectrum is not a simple operation. Every single step of the way is slow, and it eventually stops working at all. I use Gmail, so I almost never look at Spectrum. I'm up to June now in my deleting.

Jerry, by any chance is there a check-box or something in your Gmail setup to get your email from Spectrum that might say something like "Leave messages on server."?
If so, uncheck that. Then they will be deleted from the Spectrum server when you download them via the Gmail client.

From not checking and using it. It will fill up with spam over time as well as email from any business you gave the email address to when you ordered something. It will never stop. If you don't use the email and have nothing important in it, can you just get rid of the account?

It appears that he checks it, but he checks it using Gmail, which evidently is not deleting the emails from the Spectrum server once read/deleted in the Gmail client.

Jerry I think there is a setting in GMail where all your unfiled emails are auto deleted after a custom set time. Mine is set, i think at maybe 2 months (?).
I sound unsure because I paid a guy to set mine up for me and am scared to play with the settings but works brilliantly. I get my emails sent to Outlook on the Ipad as well as reading and deleting to them on the Windows laptop. If I delete something on the Ipad it also deletes it from GMail, and vice versa.
Only took me about 6 months of frustration, swearing etc with GMail to call for help and all good now.

Don’t feel so bad. I haven’t deleted any e-mails in 8 years. When my phone has its 10th anniversary it will explode. POOF! All my emails will be gone.

I have over 72,000 emails in my Spectrum RoadRunner Inbox. Deleting them isn't easy. If everything works right - which is the exception - it takes at least thirty seconds to delete 100 emails after I click on the trash can and then click on Yes. Sometimes, it can take several minutes. I figure I will be waiting over 600 hours just for the emails to delete, and that doesn't include the selecting and clicking. When things aren't working just right, I can't even delete them because I'm waiting for Spectrum to get its act together. Gmail, on the other hand, deletes 100 emails in about two seconds. I've used 4.8 of my 5GB limit, so I'll have to keep deleting.

The deleting limit is 100, and there's no way to automatically delete them after a period of time.

I remember seeing something like that. I'll look.

If I delete from my Kindle, it doesn't delete from Gmail.

Hi Jerry,

If all you have on that drive is the emails you want to delete, why not just format the drive OR temporarily move the stuff you want to keep somewhere else before running the format. Take care & ...
