Can I batch process in LR4 using NIK DFine 2.0?

I'm attempting to try & batch process vs one @ a time by running all the images thru DFine 2.0 for noise reduction. I have all the NIK plug-ins in LR4 on my iMac however I do not have Photoshop.

Does anyone know if this can be done and if so the details to accomplish this?

Thanks--Jeff

Welcome....Your question "Can I Batch Process LR4 USING Define 2.0" Isn't Define 2.0 a different program like Noise Ninga?

I'm not familiar with Define 2. Why not due it in LR4 if you have it, unless you need an industrial noise reducer and Define 2 is just that...I've used Noise Ninja at times if LR can't do it with some success. LR4 does a pretty good job with Contrast (Luminance) Noise but has a way to go with Color (Chrominance) Noise. IMO

I've never had to do do batch processing for Noise, but I would imagine it's the same as any other batch procedure in LR4, Make adjustments to first image, then shift select (if images are adjacent) (Control select if not) other images, then in lower right corner, click on Synchronize Settings, a pop up should appear with all the setting you wish to synch with your 1st one...when done, click on Synchronize... it may take awhile for it to process depending on what needs changing and how many images.

Thank OnD--

Just curious how you would compare the noise reduction in LR4 vs the Ninja program you use? And yes, DFine is NIK's noise reduction program and I just find it to be amazing. I am more than ok using LR's but for whatever reason--I haven't for more important jobs like the one I am processing. I have however done the first image in a series and created my own Preset and then applied that Preset to the rest--but again usually run the images thru NIK DFine vs using LR's noise reduction.

I know you gave me suggestions on how to reduce the Noise in LR4---is that exactly what you do? I have only really used under "Noise Reduction", then "Luminance" slider. Should I also be using the Contrast tab. These particular images are from Division I hockey this past weekend--shot at either 1250 or 1600 ISO on my Canon 1D3. Just about to start processing so not sure what to expect with the bright ice.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Warm Regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff, although I try to avoid situations when I know noise will be an issue (as we all do) but can't be avoided. For example, I had to shoot a 15 band concert/reunion 2 weeks ago and the stage lighting went from great, to bad, to worse, but for the most on a scale of 1 to 10, a 5. I.E. all over the charts...I was using a D7000 with a Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED and shooting at f/2.8 - f/5.6 mostly and at 1/125 give or take, but ISO was from 600 up to 3200 and at time 4000...knowing I'd have a bit of PP to look forward to I just went with it. Well LR did a great job on most till I needed to adjust a few images that were shot at 4000 ISO...Ninga just seemed to handle it better...I can't explain why not knowing the program that well yet. It just did. TO answer your contrast question, If I need to I use all of themÂ… yes just playing with the sliders till I achieve my goal. A decent shot under the circumstances.
