Last evening my wife and I went to a small special event at the Lochabar Cottage, PA.
Afterwards I asked Col Lyon (Navy Seal Retired) if I could tour his mid 1700's house as I am an Architect and love to see the Cottage. His wife spoke up and said that would be great and just look around as you wish.
I did and thanked them after looking. She asked if I saw the Opium bed, I said no, where was it? It was in a little dim room off of an unlit office room that looked to be private space. So she said to go look and I did.
Amazing, 3 shots with a cell phone merged.
Bed came from when they were stationed in Malaysia.

That is absolutely gorgeous. The detail work...stunning.

I grew up with a retired Admiral as a close friend of my Mom and Dad (they were friends with his daughter and son in law (sub commander).
All Navy family...you know the type.
The house was run by bells like on a ship...it was something.

The Admiral was a cool guy and he and his wife spent ten years in China during the thirties.
They'd...seen it all.
Their house also was stuffed with amazing Asian craftsmanship...absolutely stunning furnishings.

But the stories always outshined the furniture.

Weird side bar. The son-in-law last name was Lyons...pretty close.

That's interesting on a number of levels...one being that Colonel is not a Navy rank!

Captain is what was meant.
I intended to say the same as Col.
That event had Captains, Cols, Admirals and Generals it was hard to keep track.
You are correct, it was I didn't finish my thought.
ESL raising it's head.

Could the ex-seal have been a Marine? Their officer ranks coincide with the Army/Air Force.
