I am in the process of applying for dual USA/Italian citizenship--mostly for the benefit of my children and grandchildren. But I do scare my wife from time to time asking if we should buy a villa in Tuscany. So far she has not been too receptive to the idea.

Correct. We were there in 2002. We came down the mountain and ate the most beautiful lunch with beautiful view overlooking Vernazza: we are still talking about that as one of the high points of our trip.
