This is an interesting challenge on time pieces. Jumping in on the late side and also late at night so adding a couple of posts rather quickly. My wife grew up with the following time piece since it was her grandmother's clock. Bob
Very interesting info on pineapple, Bob...Thanks for sharing!
Just 3 in my collection and our mantel clock. It does work (or did years ago) but the "gong" announcing hour and marking every 30 minutes got to be too much! We inherited it when we bought the house in 1971
I really liked the "moon" watch and it finally quit working....

Thanks judy juul! You're welcome.
Hey folks, the topic is time. You are not limited to watches & clocks!
Or perhaps a big stretch, to timing. Timing is everything.

This is my great grandfather’s pocket watch, presented to him in 1873 by the good folk around the Black Lane area of Radcliffe, Lancashire (UK) after five and a half years service as a policeman. It very nearly went out of his direct family line after the death of my brother a couple of years ago but after much persuasion it is now in my care for a while. I shall ensure it passes to one of my grandchildren before I pop off. Alongside it in my brothers trinket draw was another pocket timepiece date 1813 about which I know nothing. I hope to get permission to research that one.

Thanks for this, magnetoman. I'm glad you were able to keep this treasure in the family where it will be so much m ore cherished than among strangers. It really interested me, 'cos my Mum's family were Radcliffe folks, at least till they moved up to Whitefield; I remember reading that around 1950, the fallout of soot in Radcliffe was 18" a year, so no wonder my grandfather's clock still wreaks of it. Also, one of Mum's uncles was in the police in Radcliffe early 20th century, but I know nothing of his station etc. The nearest station to Radcliffe these days is apparently 6 miles away - how times change!
