Nikon had the fastest autofocus for the full frame mirrorless at f/0.85 so Fuji has some catching up to do.

I think it's just for bragging rights anyway as the depth of field must be about 1/16 of an inch.

If you need that kind of speed just get night vision goggles or turn on a light.

I believe Nikon has an F/.95 on a manual focus lens for their mirrorless cameras.

I think the headline for this lens isn't the F/1.0 aperture, but the fact that it has auto focus.

I think it's the f/1.0 or faster with AF. I thin in this case it may be first.

Nope, there was one produced in the 40's. I saw it in 1947.

A 1.0 on a crop sensor will yield similar depth of field as a 1.5 on a full frame at equivalent field of view - therefore this lens is nothing more than their version of a 1.4(ish) lens - not something above and beyond the pale as it seems just by looking at the numbers.

Right. Fuji would hafta offer an f/0.7 just to pull even with current speed leaders. (Explained on page 1.)

So it's the world's first 50mm f/1.0 AF lens. Without the AF it's not first.

It is the first AUTOFOCUS one for digital mirrorless.

But there are several other 50mm f0.95 lenses, all manual focus for other digital mirrorless and DSLR cameras.

And dont forget Nikon's enormously expensive 58mm f0.95 NOCT lens for its mirrorless at $7995 USD
