Hi, Topcat,
I had my Panasonic zs50 converted to IR. Although before conversion it produced pretty good detail, converted it suffers, especially, strangely enough, in the lower right hand quadrant. I certainly do not get the amount of detail you get througout. So...I am wondering what camera you converted and who did it.
Just to be complete, the ZS50 has 12 megapixels, a 1/2.3 inch sensor, a 24 to 720 zoom, and was converted by Kolari.
Thanks in advance for any info you might send.

Hi, Topcat, br I had my Panasonic zs50 converted ... (show quote)

I converted an old Sony a5000 to 590nm. Previously I had an ole Sony a3000 converted to 720nm.
I don't like the fact that the 5000 doesn't have a viewfinder, so that bothers me, and is the reason that I have not used it. So I figured that I might as well convert it because I wasn't using it.
I got good results from both cameras, but I wanted to get more into the colour side of IR.
I had it converted by Isaac Szabo <isaac@isaacszabo.com>. He was recommended by a Hog, and I was happy with his work.
I don't understand why you are having problems with your camera, maybe you could talk to Isaac to see if he can figure what is wrong, but Kolari should stand behind their product and give you support.

Pleast let me know if thee is anything that I can do.

Many thanks.
I have read that the lens makes a great deal of difference. What lens do you usually use on the converted camera?

I used a Sony 16-50, but it had too many hotspots, so I moved to a Sony 18-55.

Here is a lit of the bad lenses...

Thanks again, Topcat!
I am still not sure which direction to go in. I'll probably call Kolari first. Then decide whether to get an old Sony (Nex 7) or Olympus converted.
Happy trails and fun shooting to you!
