If this question is been discussed before I am sorry for repetition.
I am currently using Nikon D4. I am getting old and camera is getting heavy for me. Looking for a mirror less replacement for my D4. Would like to keep Nikon lenses. What would you suggest?

I am a beginner in English writing and in photography so please do not jump on me if you notice any mistake.

My Z6 seems *sometimes* faster than my Z7 and I suspect its due to smaller file size not clogging the buffer. Both cameras have equal cards (Prograde Express Type B).

Obviously if you have the budget theres always the Z9 but you mention trying to save weight. You also mention keeping your lenses, so youre going to save exactly 627g/22oz and nothing more. If that solves your problem, rock on.

Not as fancy, but a lot lighter than anything else from Nikon is the new Z50 mirrorless, the D5600 DSLR (my favorite, as that is what I use) or, lighter than either, the D3500.

The newer DX lenses are featherweight, too.

Thanks for reply.
I heard Z9 is not lighter in weight. Lenses are also heavy.
Thanks again.

The OP seems to rule out both parts of your suggestion. He needs to clarify his phrase "keep nikon lenses". Is that his current Nikon lenses, or is it just the Nikon brand name ?

If its means his current Nikon lenses, then his project is doomed. But if it means just the Nikon brand name, success is attainable (similar to your recommendation).

I would highly recommend the Z6 along with its 24-70mm f/4 (or 2.8 if necessary). I use the Z6 regularly for action, runners, and find the AF accuracy and response perfectly adequate. With the FTZ adapter you can also use your existing Nikon lenses.

There are the options of Z611 up to Z711 if you want/need the 'possible' better AF (depends what you shoot), extra megapixels, dual cards and grips.

Well that narrows the variables down to one: You can save 22oz by getting a Z6 with FTZ, or keep the D4.

The Z6 has functions that SLRs do not, but your current SLR is a bit faster vs a Z6. If you wanted more pixels youd be giving up even more speed with the Z7.

Thanks. I prefer high resolution. May be Z7 would be a choice.

For most use I reach for my Z7 unless the light is reeeally poor, which is Z6 territory. In either case I dont care about speed. If "speed is the need" I switch to m4/3. The speed and speed related features of m4/3 render all discussions about "fast" FF gear as pathetically pointlessly ridiculous. Any engineer will confirm that low mass is its own reward.

Thanks. I have no knowledge of m4/3 cameras.
Thinking of Z7
