Yes you are correct. But the figure of John Wayne in numerous movies depicting him as a hero in all branches of the military, a cowboy hero who saves the day has made him a hero. American troops have known that since WW2 and yet still look up to John Wayne as somebody who WOULD have been a hero. Does he really need more than that? Are you posting in an attempt to put him down or just submitting a fact?

Just submitting a fact. I have been as big a fan of John Wayne as anyone but as you brought it up, you never know if someone will be a hero or not. He may have and probably would have been, but until it comes up you can't know. Speculation doesn't make it true. I have seen it go both ways. Someone you think would be a "hero" would turn and run and someone you seemed to be a wuss step up and stand his ground.

In all the news clips I have seen the word bodega is used and pronounced correctly.

Thank you. I was hoping you would say that. I agree about heroes. Most in the military do not get a chance to be the real heroes we read about, the MOH, Navy Cross or Silver Star recipients. There isn't always a need for someone to rush up and single handedly take out three machine gun nests or jump on a hand grenade to save other troops from dying, etc. Most just do their jobs effectively and hopefully get to go home. But when that opportunity does come up, that is the time when a hero is born, someone who maybe doesn't even think of the risk as much as he does about taking the hill or wiping out a tank that is killing his friends.

What's more, the girlfriend of the slain crook, also stabbed the bodega owner and has yet to be charged. Now that is amazing to me.

Yes, that is correct.
He immediately volunteered after Pearl Harbor but was refused due to age and health.
His life and patriotism and films did a lot for America in a time of war.
He loved America and attritubeted where he was because of individual liberty it afforded him.
He despised liberals and in particular those in Hollywood who were ungrateful maggots.
PS, FJB and obummer NEVER served and it shows by their hatred for the military.
