Has anyone dabbled in metal prints? What printing service have you used that you like?

Yes I had 2 metal prints done...and WOW....just amazing. I used Full Color for these...and they aren't cheap.

I have seen several prints on metal and they look great. I just ordered my first print from Imagewizards. If you go to their web site you can order a sample package of their products.

ACI (American Color Imaging) out of Iowa does all of my lab printing. I have ordered several large prints done on metallic paper from them w/ VERY satisfactory results.
I have won several awards in photography contests with these prints on metallic paper.
Seems to me that Blk & Wht shows off better than color, but I am planning on printing some HDR color prints on metallic paper in the near future

You need to make a distinction here. There are metallic paper printing and prints made on real metal. The first is most common for us regular folk and a little more pricey than reg paper. The latter is great for displays bolted to your wall, usually outdoors and are very expensive but are reported to last 3 years. Both have a great look.
As to where? Almost all prolabs will do metallic paper and you may have to Google for metal prints but there are lots.
yes--about a year ago I saw some metal prints at a gallery showing that really got me interested in printing my own metal prints. Not having any info on how to start, I researched the web and thru trial and error came up with a way to do it myself. I received some nice comments thru camera club members. The cost is not much more that printing on paper and a lot less than having it done done thru a commercial printer plus having the fun at doing it myself. The most difficult part was discovering the correct printer settings and procedure on running the aluminum with a backing thru the printer, after that it was easy. If anyone is interested on what I will help. A straight thru printer is a must unless you want to print on aluminum cans.

I have had metallic prints done by Mpix with great results and at a very reasonable price. Goodcompany and super fast shipping.
Not metallic prints - Prints on metal. Not even close to the same thing.
Bay Photo, ACI, Image Wizards - and most pro labs. All look great.

I've been using a local printer that uses metallic paper and you see a big difference in the colors.Where it really shows up with a lot a depth is in B/W. Had one(34x22) of a old car that i had done in B/W and then popped the color on the car and had mounted on 3/8 board with black border and hung it in my wife's office. Tons of positive comments and a few sales to booth.

One more time - the question is about METAL PRINTS, not prints on metallic paper. The two are not similar.
Thanks Captan C for clarifying the difference between metallic coated paper and images printed on aluminum. Prints on aluminum really pop due to the light reflecting back thru the image. Big difference and no comparison.
