Water-based body paints wash off in the shower, look for Mehron Paradise AQ or Kryolan Aquacolor for example

Grease paint like clowns use, it don't stain but does require some time in the shower and a lot of soap, they say cold cream applied to the skin before hand helps.
Water based paints do tend to stain the skin.BTDT.

This query needs to be answers by an experienced makeup artist and/or body painter.
They will only use cosmetic grade product approved for use on the epidermis.
Do you really want to place someone in harms way by subjecting them to a toxic agent?
You also are courting with a massive liability action if your client has an allergic reacting...
Vendors like Ben Nye are providers of theatrical creme makeup kit.
This is what I use in this scenario... That said I hold a cosmetologist license in makeup artistry from the state of Maryand (professionally trained). And would do a patch test first, waiting a hour or so even with Ben Nye product.

I have worked with very viscous oil-based gear lubricants in industry and have found that ordinary butter will cut through the toughest of black greases, even those that are designed to stick in place under extremely arduous operating conditions.
Chemicals and solvents can be very harsh and dangerous to the skin. Butter, real butter, not margarine, has to be well massaged in but the goopy mixture washes off quite easily in a hot soapy shower. It will however transfer the mess to your shower walls, but at least now it is off your body.
