Jack, I have recently started seeing a female geriatric doctor and she put me on Meloxicam which I have to take with food or my stomach rebels. I only mention this because many other things I've tried never controlled the morning pain when rolling out of bed. I do mean rolling, too!
It's helped me significantly. All my previous doctors did not offer me that pill option. For what it's worth. Good luck on finding a pain reduction medicine. I'm in my early 80s.

Good morning "C",
I experienced a significantly herniated disc (L5-S1) a few years ago requiring a laminectomy with disc removal. No fun whatsoever. I empathize completely. We really miss your posts. Get better.

I'm not saying it's a definite panacea but a prescription of Meloxicam has always done the trick for my back.
