Bite the bullet and get a moderately priced laptop and an external drive for your photos. No need for fancy with the laptop.
If you have enough space on your phone, get a card reader for that. Only $12.99 on Amazon.
I use one to transfer to my iPad while traveling.

Just purchase more cards. It would probably cost less than $900.

Bob,
How does more cards provide a backup to the cards containing data?

Maybe someone more sophisticated than me will have other ideas, but as someone who once tried a Wolverine hard drive to back up stuff, the simplest in my opinion is to get a very small and lightweight computer (mine is a about as light as an iPad) and an external hard drive (I use the Rugged LaCie Mini) and just drag my disk contents to that external hard drive directly. The computer allows me to polish up a few of my top pictures and, if there is internet service available, will upload these pictures to my Smugmug account. That way if all my gear is stolen (including the hard drive, etc), I still will have my "best" pics in the cloud.
The only other way I can think of is to have enough cards that you don't have to download at all, just store the cards in a safe place. But will look forward to hearing better alternatives.

Take a look at the Rav Power Filehub.
Wow, I didn’t realize WD stopped making the My Passport Wireless. I’m glad my 2TB drive is still going strong. If I wanted I could sell it for 3x what I paid for it. Looks like there are no cheap options for a portable drive you can use without a computer anymore. Even the RAVPower Filehub is no longer available. I wonder if it’s a chip shortage problem. You might look for the Filehub on eBay and get an inexpensive portable SSD to use it with.
O.K....I think I just answered my own problem!! My 128, CF Express card will hold over 4700 shots. My 64 SD card will hold over 2300 shots! If I purchase one more 128 SD card I will. have the capacity of close to 10,000 shots. I Must have about 8-9 64 GB SD cards. I need the CF Express or a Super Fast SD card for 4 k movies and for high speed Rapid shots. A Mac web sight - "OWC" sells a super fast SD card( V90 speed)that I can purchase that is a 128 GB high speed SD card for $120 bucks and I'm done. Have the extra SD cards if needed!! Also, just spoke with my son, and has a small 8X12" computer I can burrow. I then could watch movies on our flight- (LONG FLIGHT!). Hate to drag a computer along tho!!! Thanks to all for the insight and it helped me make a good decision!!! For $120 bucks I'm all set!

Get the Nexto device. I have been rravelling intsrnationally with it for years instead of a computer. It is blazing fast and accurate, small, and will backup simultaneously to a pn external hard drive (double backup) when plugged in. When not plugged it, it will back up tens of thousands of photos on one charge. You need this device!

It seems like none of those kinds of devices are available any longer.

The Rav Power Filehub is now called the NewQ Filehub AC750 Travel Router.
I travel to Europe once a year. I carry a laptop. I have the European plug you can get on Amazon. I take a multiple plug strip for US plugs. Plug Euro plug in socket and plug in plug strip. Plug in your phone, computer and battery charger. All of these devices are dual voltage 120, 240 volts. Read the label on the device to make sure. Cards are cheap I use 120 mg or 64 mg. buy 2 or 4.
I leave the card in the camera until it is full. Then swap. I shoot a D850. I almost never fill up a 120 mg card. I shoot Raw photo and video. For must keeps I load it on a computer SSD drive. I can listen to the news and send emails, use phone and process my pictures. I've been on 6 continents. I'm on business at on some of the trups least part of the trip. Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, North America and Australia. I'm careful with my stuff and I've never lost anything. I hope this helps. Now have fun!
I don't understand what the problem is with carrying a laptop on travel. My refurbished Lenovo T430 fits in my carry-on though I take it out when checking in so it doesn't get counted with carry-on weight. At the same time, empty my pockets into space left by laptop. Once through security, reverse the process. Pockets full, laptop back in wheeled carry-on.
Just sits in the hotel room during the day, day's photos offloaded to secondary internal HDD along with 2 external HDD's at night. More convenient for email and research while on the road. Traveling for 2 months, multiple cards not a solution for me.
Minor inconvenience for the security of 3 copies of photos.

I have also used a Nexto for several years for backing up during travel -- small, lightweight, very convenient.
