Nice set of pictures. If that rooster is in your backyard as well as the raccoon you had better get the rooster under cover. I lost ten chickens that were inside a coupe once by a raccoon Good luck!

Thanx! We watch carefully. They all have secure houses to go in at night. Hen, not a rooster! Lays eggs!

A rare period of sunshine graced us with lotsa light! Lasted for about an hour, I managed a few (303) shots of the raccoon while the light lasted. D500, 500pF, shutter speeds were low for best ISO. ISOs ranged from 500 to 2000. Decent light for a change!

While admiring Sally's antics and escape tactics I noted a raccoon hanging around in a tree. This tree overlooks our main Duck house, where my wife was cleaning while this bandit was watching. The raccoon has an interesting gleam in it's eye, along with his protruding teeth provides an almost sinister appearance. We see this guy in our security cams most everyday and night. The raccoon is about 25 feet up and about 25 feet from the Duck enclosure. The ducks and chickens did not alarm when the raccoon appeared-they may be used to it. The raccoon "hung" around for about 45 minutes-just watching.

Red Red Rhody finally opened its ruddy flowers!

Download and enjoy!

Fantastic set of images!! Timothy
I hope you don't have trouble like I had with a family of them about 15 years years ago.
My late wife like to watch the birds so she fed them, we kept the seed on the deck in two 100# grease can with snap on lids, the little bastards figured out how to get the lid off one of the cans so I set a half of a concrete block on the led , yeah right, next was a whole block that worked for about two days next came three blocks stacked like an inverted pyramid, that worked either scared them or injured one or two of them, but in the mean time they consumed close to 30# of seed.
I don't feed wild animals, 90% of the time it will cause a problems and its not good for the animals, they get dependent on the EASY feed and stop foraging and some will get aggressive.
Fantastic set of images!! Timothy br I hope you d... (show quote)

Sounds like you got off easy. I had them in my attic. Fortunately there was little damage other than where they got in. Look on line at some of the problems people have had with them chewing wires, plastic ducts and pipe. Wild animals are great as long as they stay wild and a fair distance away.

We agree. The photos were taken 150 yards from our house. We do not feed them nor do we recommend feeding them. This one goes through security cams running along our outer gate, hundreds of yards away.
