It was a part of the fair. There were 1270 visitors. The Chicago world's fair, just previous to st. louis, had less than 1000 visitors.
1904 was the bicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase. My grand mother was a child when she went there.
There's a bandstand in Tower Grove park a few blocks from me. I've attended concerts there -- really enjoyed Arturo Sandoval some years ago. There's a Sunday Concerts in the Park series that will hopefully get going again with Covid less of a threat. That bandstand is useful and we use it because it's not in the lake it's beside the lake.
