Cute series. I have numerous bird feeders in my yard and consider the incredibly acrobatic, persistent and resourceful squirrel to be nothing more than a rat with a pretty tail.

I enjoy having squirrels around, but I do have squirrel guards on my poles to keep them from emptying out the feeders...

After photographing this my next step would be to coat the pole with vaseline.

Over the years we’ve tried just about everything to keep the squirrels out of the feeders. Nada. Gave up.
What we have enjoyed, besides marveling at their ingenuity, is the different personalities. We’ve had a couple that were so used to us, they’d have a snack 6 feet from where we were sitting.
