Tom Turkey, puffed up for the ladies.

As they strut around the hens, trying to impress, they stiffen and drag their wings on the ground which makes a somewhat loud noise as if you were dragging a cardboard box across a cement floor.

I currently have about 15 or so hens and I've counted 9 toms in the yard. Some hang out all year round. Others stay here during the mating season. Once the hens start laying eggs, the toms usually disappear. Once the eggs start hatching, the hens will bring them by for food. I guess that's why I have so many hanging around.

It's quite a sight to see 15 or 20 tiny chicks run towards you then, turn and run away. It's as if the ground were moving.

That is an incredible photograph. I love the way you have separated it from the background. Well done.
