I was looking for something creative to do after cutting the grass today so I brought out one of my several preserved brown marmorated stink bugs and staged it for a focus stacking session for a view of its compound and simple eye using the 10X PLAN finite microscope objective with the Raynox DCR-150 as the tube lens mounted on a bellows.

Below is an image from an earlier session using the 85mm 1X-5X macro lens that shows a full view of the stink bug to serve as a reference.

Excellent, sippy. I hope my tomatoes don't see any.

Thanks, Kpmac. I have posted many stinkbug sessions for they are overly abundant here and they also make a good specimen for they are easy to clean and to stage. I collect specimens that are either invasive, destructive pests, or in this case both.

Great images, Gary. The two in combo really works well.

Thanks, Elliott. I wanted to show what the stinkbug looked like in comparison to just its eye alone.

Thanks, Tinusbum. I staged it with the Mitakon Creator 85mm f/2.8 1-5x Super Macro lens. It's a Canon MP-65E "want to be" lens for us non-Canon folks. It's not my favorite for insects although it has its place in my collection of optics when staging sessions with wildflowers.
