A while back I posted "Mushroom Tree", which I was informed was a Weeping Higan Cherry. I went back to the site and found the owners of the tree, who told me the tree was planted in 1895. I asked them to let me know when it blooms. Last Saturday I received a call letting me know it was blooming. I get there today to snap a few photos of the tree in bloom. I also included the original posting picture. In one of the pictures, you can see how gnarly the tree is after 127 years. I asked, and they weren't much interested in selling the tree to any woodcrafters who would turn the gnarly part into tabletops......BadDog

Love that! Amazing that a seemingly dead tree is just dormant to bloom again year after year. Good follow up.

Thank you, BadDog, for posting pictures of this interesting tree. I hope you have given prints of these beautiful
pictures to the owner of the tree.

I think that I shall never see a billboard lovely as a tree. Perhaps, unless the billboards fall, I'll never see a tree at all. Who said this?

Here is another poem to your tree.
poets and photographers look at trees and wonder (The poet is...?)
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Thanks for posting this poem, it is a beautiful tribute
Beauty comes to those who wait.
