I found Jerry Uelsmann's work quite interesting. Birds and flowers make nice photographs but folks like Jerry and Duane Michals showed me that there can be so much more.

He was an amazing talent. Well ahead of his time.
He was a fellow Indiana University alum having recieved his MFA in 1960. I got mine there last year. Henry Holmes Smith founded the department and was his mentor.
I found out about Jerry's passing from my mentor, James Nakagawa, while I was on the way to see this years MFA shows. Jerry's passing loomed large over my trip. While staying in my mentors studio I got to hear many wonderful stories about Jerry as they had become good friends.
He was a truly amazing artist and an inspiration.
