Australian rock art has been dated at between 17 and possibly 40 thousand years old, with no knowledge as to who may have been responsible, they have not yet all been found or documented although a huge amount have been catalogued, these are from Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Wow, thanks for sharing the images, so magical, makes you think about who the artists where and what life was like for them, they do a nice job of showing us some of the things that were important to them.

Hi there Wizz,most of this art is in areas that are generally inaccessible to most people, 4x4 needed to get in and then some walking, very sparsely populated, etc, and well kept secrets in a lot of places to prevent vandalism.

Thanks for showing interest Birdguide, yes, its a real puzzle as to the artists and its obvious they wanted those in the future to experience their time in history, i dont suppose we will ever really know much more, i have been fascinated by this stuff for most of my life.

I love rock art , it's always cool to think about what went on , how they lived etc many , many years ago. Thanks for sharing.
