Extraordinary. Someone with a less untrained eye than mine might even describe them as sensual... Well Done...

I watched a couple of videos about how to do this and tried to figure out how I could come up with something similar. I do not have a remote flash so had to rig up some sort of lighting.....a fish tank light set on its side. The kind that has a bar light and not light bulbs (and gives off white light). A black back drop and smoke and mirrors (pun intended). I cut a couple pieces of sheet mirror down to workable sizes and placed them around to help bounce the light around.

There is NO flash used to take these and it shows in the fact that I had to use a high ISO so there is quite a bit of noise in some of them. Also not quite enough light to really get a good sharp focus. There was obviously some PP done on these but I don't think they came out to bad for a first try.

Its always fun to try something new, especially if youve been at this a while. I too wanted to experiment with lighting behind smoke. Someone gave me a smoking monkee wearing a Fez hat, I thought what a perfect subject. This is the shot I got. Off camera flash hooked up to a pocket wizard. Camera was Nikon D70S.

Hey Andy T.

What part of the world is the "smoking monkey" from ?... Could it be the same place as my mother-in-law ? :|

Brilliantly done IMO Shane T. I also agree with Emm5 and all the others - there is female form in there. And that is beautiful.

Wonderful work or is it; PLEASURE?

I see the erotic side of things in a plowed field so I really loved them.

I think I would have some of them printed on that new metalized surface and put them in a gallery where they should sell like erotic hotcakes should!

Wonderful!

Shane, these are beautiful! But, why is everyone saying they see women forms in the smoke. You can clearly see that they are birds forms! Or has my mind just gone to the birds??! (just kidding-I also see the women)

Well I have to say that the first thing that I was seeing were birds as well. So if you are going to the birds then I'm there with you!
