On my 8-15 fisheye I get a circle for the picture at 8mm.

Photography is meant to be creative. Your fisheye 8mm gives a very creative result. I assume you have cropped the center of the image in order to achieve a traditional rectangular image?

The Rokinon 8mm fisheye can be used on both full frame and APS-C cropped cameras. It produces round images on full frame cameras and rectangular images on cropped sensor cameras.

The OP's Fuji xe-1 is cropped sensor (1.5 crop factor) so he gets rectangular images.

Just took a little googling.

About once a year I'll take out this Rokinon lens for my Fuji xe-1 and take a few pictures. Distortion is excessive.

You have just given me an idea. When I use my Sigma 8mm with my 5Dii, I to capture a very large circle. However, since you said you have a less-than-full frame, you capture a rectangle image. So, thank to you, I've pulled out my retired Canon 20D body, which I'm sure is less than full frame, and perhaps the 8mm will capture a rectangular image on the 20D. I've put batteries on the charge first, so that I can power up the 20D. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

That should give you the rectangular image you're looking for. It will also work if you crop the circular image that your 5D produces.
