We've got tons of these at the feeder. Purple finch, some kind of sparrow? Anyone know?

Check with your local Audubon Society. The red spot above the bill is pretty small, and the back is quite light. Might be a Hoary Redpoll (p. 454, in National Geographic Field Guide to Birds), not as 'common' as Common Redpoll.
Merlin is a great app, and it's free. You can even upload or take a picture and it will tell you what it is. Really fun to use the sound ID button too.
