Be sure to hit a few of the two-tracks that meander off left and right before you get to the Park boundary. Been seeing some antelope up there the last few years, and eagles, red-tail hawks and burrowing owls are not out of the question, either. But DO NOT attempt if it's rained a day or two beforehand; clay soils before you get into Salt Valley proper are brutal under such conditions.

Great photos of a rather drab area. I usually enter Arches that way as I am coming from the north. You are totally right about the clay roads north of the Park.
