I doubt it was me that scared anybody off. I'd bet it was the posted speed limit of 25mph.
Nobody's willing to go
that slow, are they???
Your usual great shots, Jim. I think the need for 4-wheel drive transportation lightens the load at this entrance.

They are all at Starbucks complaining about $4.00 gas while waiting for a $5 latte.

4WD? Yeah, usually/sometimes. But not right now. Right now, the Salt Valley Road is in as good a shape as I've ever seen it. Its good enough that the average Maserati or Ferrari driver could cruise right on in @ 120mph or so (though they might want to back off a little in one or two or the curves.... that gravel can get sort of slidey).
Customarily, the road is washboardy and rutted enough that regardless one's speed, eyeballs tend to get rattled out of folk's heads (and worse!). Consequently, once every 50 or 60 years, the road crew goes in and smooths things out a little. The big grader was parked a few miles further along the way, but I didn't stop to shoot it....
Two bad it doesn't stay that way. Pete

There is a gate --and it can be closed-- but I've only seen it closed twice in 30 years (during Park closures).
