I'm one of those that find AFFINITY difficult, but I'm also finding that it seems to offer so much more in the way of minor adjustment.

I'm still scratching the surface of it's capabilities after nearly a year of ownership. I took a photo of St. Mary's Church, Waltham, but because of the traffic and the road couldn't quite get what I wanted, so I had another punt with AFFINITY. Some cropping, a lot cloning, a few minor exposure adjustments, no smart replacement tools.

Nicely done, but I would crop off a bit of the road at the bottom, say up to that single first line on the right, and start the image where the dotted white line begins. Also go back to the brown grass where the blue bin was and redo a little of that to get a better blend and remove some of the duplicate looking cloning work you left there. That way the area won't be so much of a Tell-Tale, that some cloning work was done there. Overall, a great job.

Affinity Photo is an excellent editor at a most reasonable price. I am sure you know there are plenty of tutorials on line. I have learned a lot about the program just by watching them.
I am no expert using Affinity Photo. I learned to use the basic adjustments and I am there most of the time. Learning now masks and frequency separation and how to use them. Still a lot to learn.

I think that the problem with these editing programs is that the people who are demonstrating CAN'T TEACH. They assume you already know how to use the damn program. I always feel like I must have missed a previous lesson.

I couldn't agree more. I really like Affinity but its tutorials are like getting a 12 minute lesson in calculus and then being expected to calculate orbital mechanics in your head. I probably use 10% of Affinity's capabilities but at my level that's sufficient and most of what I've learned was from trial and error.

Comments taken on board. I try to take out the obscuring modern extras like the overhead power cables. But I leave in the road and notices because that's how it is now. Should I try and lift a cart track from somewhere?
Should I take out the Wellingtonia tree (as they are not native to the U.K.) It's just my choice where to stop.

But maybe just dulling down the road sign is worth considering on future similar projects. As to the 'stuff' at the bottom of the image it is the shadow from another tree scattered across the road surface. I left that amount of road in so that I got the white line into the corner of the image, again just my preference but worth noting how others see things.

Finally, recloning around the entrance to get some better definition. I see what you're getting at, it does look like a darker line has been drawn on the top of the verge. But double download shows a rough edged grass. That said I could possibly improve on it with a finer brush and a softer fade below the top of the grass.

Only one problem - the weather has got better and I'd sooner be out masking images than editing them.
