Looking online for articles about Daylight Saving Time, I found nothing good about switching clocks twice a year. Actually, there are a lot of negatives. The days following the switch produce more heart attacks, headaches, suicides, and car accidents. Changing the time messes up our circadian rhythm and we don't get enough sleep, leading to negative results. It doesn't save anyone any money, and it causes errors and confusion.
On a related topic, light pollution, which is fairly easy to control, also interferes with our circadian rhythm, and that applies to animals, too.
Arizona never changes from Mountain Standard time. I agree with you. In my opinion, stay on eastern standard time.

For the record, I detest DST in any shape or form. When I was growing up here in Indiana, we were on CST. Then the powers that be decided we should be on EST. Now EDT. All that two hours’ difference gets me is two more hours to work outside in the evening, which I don’t need at my age.
That said, what’s any different about the hour’s time switch and staying out an hour or so later that usual? I can’t see any or ever feel any. I do not understand why an hour’s change can be such a big deal.
Arizona and Hawaii have it right.
The first daylight savings time was a wartime measure to get factory workers in and working while the factory could get natural light from the windows and save electricity.
This only applied to one or two shift factories. 3 shift 24hr factories it had no real effect on as a whole.
Many factories now have no windows for light and use electric lights because it is more controllable and a better work environment.
As to farmers and other outdoor workers, they just change the time they get up and go to bed slowly as the hours of daylight and darkness change. Many without an alarm clock. My Grandfather was a farmer and he just woke up when it got light enough so he could see to work and went to bed after dinner and the daily news on radio and later TV and it was dark. In the summer with longer daylight hours so he was getting less sleep he just took an hour or so nap on the living room couch after lunch and then went back out to work.
I think we could do away with DST without much fuss at all. Well except for the code writers and guys who build the circuitry for advanced electronics to make the change automatically.
That reminds me, I need to change all the cameras internal clocks- six dslr's, two bridge cameras, one pocket zoom that is being used - there are also 2 or 3 pocket zooms that no one has touched in 3 years or so. I am not sure of the number because I have a vague memory of the wife giving one to friend who had no camera. But if they have power that would be a miracle and I am not sure I remember where they got stashed when they were replaced with better cameras.
So yes, lets join the "End DST" movement.
I must have read the same article as the OP. It also states that 68 percent of the people polled don't want dst. Our wonderful Congress is the hold up. Also since the states have final say petition your state to make the switch. I live on the border of Ohio and Indiana. I remember when they used to not do dst. It was great in the fall because if I needed something I could skip across the line and Lowe's would still be open. Lol I'm old now and have no last minute needs for parts. Lol.

Any value of DST is long past. The claim it gives more daylight is bogus. Every day has exactly the same amount of daylight whether you switch the clocks or not. Since it is known that bad things happen on Monday following the change, we should declare it a national holiday.
Hi again JC,
You may have seen / read this elsewhere but your Daylight Saving Time 'toon reminds me of something an, obviously, very wise Native American once observed related to this. He stated "only a white man would cut one inch off the bottom of a blanket - sew it to the top of the blanket and think the blanket was now longer". I must have heard this 20-30 years ago and will never forget it.

i had men come in late saying they forgot to set their clocks ahead, but no one ever came in early because they forgot to set clocks back......dst is useless....
if our government stopped doing pointless irrelevant things, can you imagine how many government employees would be out of work.

Reset 30 minutes to the mid-point. Some will be happy and everyone else will only be 50% unhappy.
As Drbobcameraguy said, it is up to congress to eliminate the time change. Since most people would just as soon get rid of the time change the only reason I can think of that our illustrious legislators keep it in place is because somebody or group is paying them off to keep the time change in place for some reason.

And roosters won't crow, cows won't give milk, light bulbs won't work, and cars will not start! Don't believe all the garbage on the internet. It's there to make you want to hide in your basement out of fear.

Congress has final say. Oregon enacted staying on PDT in 2019 but with the proviso that Washington and California follow suit, and then Congress has to approve.

Whenever someone starts babbling about the "extra hour of daylight" I point out that it is the extra hour of daylight which is causing global warming, so we should se the clocks back an hour to get an extra hour of dark and help cool the planet. They look at me I am stupid, and say "Well, it's not really an extra hour of daylight".... so who is the stupid one?
I don't change my clocks or watches. I have my cell phone and smart watch set to Az time. I agree, let's do away with DST and stay on natural time when the sun is highest in the sky at noon.
