That’s a great review of local cemeteries and the descriptions add a lot. Thanks for your attention to detail.

Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery by Paul Sager, on Flickr

Originally four independent cemeteries were established on land purchased by the Hebrew Benevolent Society and Congregation B’nai Sholom, the plots popularly known as "Jewish Graceland" form the oldest surviving Jewish Cemetery in Chicago, dating to 1851.

Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery

Graceland Cemetery, directly across the road from the Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery, is the style known as a “rural” or “garden cemetery.” Garden cemeteries incorporate naturalistic elements like trees, lakes and ponds, terraced lawns, and weaving paths and plots to create a park-like atmosphere.

Graceland Cemetery

Graceland Cemetery is the final resting place of many of Chicago's public figures, baseball and boxing greats, merchants and inventors, and other unique individuals.

Thank you Charles, lnl, crafterwantabe, Susan, Earnest, merrytexan, Timothy! I have the midday news on where we're a cold 18F today with snow arriving tomorrow and a likely 4-inches on the ground by Friday afternoon. Maybe a good time for some more cemetery shots.

As usual, interesting subjects, and a more interesting story (dialog).
The photos look great as the black and white brings out the mood.
