Ivermectin was approved for human use in 1987.
The doctors who discovered Ivermectin won a Nobel Prize in 2015 for its successful use in humans to treat several devastating tropical diseases, including river blindness (onchocerciasis), strongyloidiasis, trichuriasis, ascariasis and lymphatic filariasis, as well as to treat less severe conditions such as head lice and scabies.
Ivermectin is also used in veterinary medicine to treat parasitic diseases.

So you are saying that it is good against viruses? ....lol (maybe I should explain the humour in this as well)

I said that Ivermectin works against viruses just as much as I also said that it cures coughs, colds, asthma, migraines, bronchitis, cholera symptoms, hysteria, consumption, chorea, gout, neuralgia, acute and sub-acute rheumatism, tetanus, hydrophobia, "women's issues" and the like.
See if you can decipher where I made those claims in my post.

The problem is that there is so much misinformation, so many lies, and so many deaths that there are and always have been some things that are extremely difficult to find any humor in or about. We can't find anything humorous about thousands of Jews being killed by the Nazis. If your mother or father passed away or got severly ill from taking this stuff, would you laugh and find that funny? Some people believed the lies and really did take the horse medication, some people got severely sick from it. Is that funny? It is so easy to stand back and point fingers at what we call stupid people and laugh while they take this stuff, there isn't anything funny about it, but it is indeed sad. It is true that one can find humor in most issues, and I will defend anyones right to free speech, but some issues simply don't qualify.

I have followed covid through from its very beginning. Also followed the use of Ivermectin. NOWHERE did I read that anybody suggested taking horse Ivermectin. So somehow that bit of misinformation got out there and some very stupid people took it. If my parents had taken it I would have been left wondering how I came about from such stupid parents. There was some initial thoughts that Ivermectin, taken at the right time and with the right other medicine might help alleviate symptoms. I had never thought, nor read anywhere, that it was a cure for covid. How anybody could have mixed all this up I just don't know. And taken the correct way there would have been no problems and your life, may or may not, have been slightly better.
Let me tell you two things that beggar belief and has really stretched my ability to understand the human mind.
In Aug last year a doctor who was watching a movie while 'driving' his Tesla went off the road and just about killed two people. A doctor who has to make life and death decisions about saving other peoples lives.
A vet friend of mine was not aware that Ivermectin has also been prescribed to humans for some conditions in billions of doses with a safety record better than aspirin. I told him about taking extra vitamin D because a lot of covid deaths have happened to people who had a deficiency of Vit D. He laughed and said that he gets enough Vit D through his diet. If you want to know why this was a joke (on him) do your own research on where Vit D comes from.
Two examples of presumably intelligent people who can be so wrong. As far as I can tell if we get out of this covid mess, and survive food shortages and climate change then there really must be a God since we aren't doing anything to help ourselves yet.

'How anybody could have mixed all this up I just don't know.'

I can tell you that in a few words....Facebook and Twitter. Why do serious research when you can clean all the info you want from all the non-experts while sipping coffee and laughing at memes on the web?

From what I've read about this substance, it is not meant for humans. You may wish to consider consulting the statements of informed medical experts on this subject.

Not true. It is an FDA approved drug for humans. Just not the amount that a Vet would give a horse like what you hear on the news. I did some research and quit listening to the main stream media.

This is a highly politicized questionā€¦and as best as I can figure out the answer depends. Against the original virusā€¦the outbreaks in India and some of the African countries for example were pretty low in cases per 100Kā€¦and many to most of the people in those countries take the drug for malaria preventionā€¦thus there is some decent evidence that at least for the first strain it does help prevent infection. As a treatment after infectionā€¦most studies have concluded that it has little effect on disease progress once infectedā€¦but I haven't seen any full scale studies on whether it helps precent infection.

Unfortunatelyā€¦the former President said the word so the other side simply had to disagree, accuse him of fake news and lying about it, and assorted other symptoms of what the far right calls TDSā€¦and despite being mostly center right myself I find the description of TDS to have been fairly accurate for many to most on the left.

Let's face itā€¦if the man said the sky was blue the progressives and most media would say he was lyingā€¦

Let us call it like it is....forget about the left or even the right crap for the moment, the scientific EXPERTS pointed out that it does not work to stop the infection...nor does shining sunshine in your veins or taking chloroquin for that matter.

People from everywhere yell and scream but this is not germane to the conversation....listen to the people who know...the scientists.

Even here you might be wrong. Not too sure what you mean by "nor does shining sunshine in your veins". Taken literally does it mean cutting your arms open so that the sun can access your veins ? Or is it somehow a reference to allowing the sun access to you skin so that you can generate vitamin D ? Vitamin D is known to allow your body to have a better response to its immunity processes. In other words it is good to help your body in its natural fight against infections including covid. It is very much accepted that vitamin D is useful against covid. NOT a cure but just a help.
And I would trust scientists if more than two of them would agree on the same thing. If one of these scientists is Anthony Fauci then no I don't trust him since he facilitated 'gain of function' research.

I'm sorry, but forget the "non-experts", it's the talking cats who distribute the truth. <-- is a joke. (for those people who want to take it seriously. I shouldn't have to explain this, but some people......)!

You bring up some excellent points. What many folks donā€™t know I guess is the fact that Merck, the original manufacturer of Ivermectin, has concluded that the probability of Ivermectin providing a safe and efficacious treatment option for SARS-CoV-2 infection is LOW.
And thatā€™s straight from the horseā€™s mouth.

Most of the "scientists" associated with the COVID issure are giving science a bad name. The first issue one must understand about science is that it is NEVER decided by consensus. Scientific facts are determined by the scientific method which involves stating a hypothesis, then testing it with carefully designed and repeatable experiments which either prove the thesis true or false. Once proven, opinions to the contrary are moot.

The chances of you winning the State lottery is much much lower than LOW. But millions seem to like the odds. So a LOW chance of Ivermectin helping is not actually bad odds. Merck is biased of course since they would make no money out of it. I am not saying they are wrong but need to mention that you have to add their comments to the other knowledge you have gained to make a decision that you are happy to work with.
Leaving aside all the BS that has resulted from this subject becoming politicized I have formed the notion (and my wife also and we don't agree on a lot) that there is way more stupid people on this planet than what I thought 2 years ago before we had covid. Covid has focused a lot more attention on just how intelligent us humans really are and none of it is good.
