I see no fur on its tail indicating mange, would not allow it in the same area as your pets if you have any, I would contact your local wildlife management and have it removed.

You may be right, troutbum. We have had a coyote from time to time that has a very advanced case of mange, but periodically still shows up. Seems there must be enough cover to evade those looking for these fellas.

There are a number of neighbors who feed animals in the winter. It may contribute to how these boys seem so elusive as they have a wide area to roam.

That fox looks as terrible as Curmudgeon's coyotes with mange. I wonder if wildlife management services could actually help it or, as they do around here, simply "manage" it. Poor little thing.
