Thank you all for helping me time to time. And yes, I do not know what I’m doing……I bought a Tamron sp150-600 f/5 6.3 di vc usd g2 (from my sister for reasons not stated here). I have a Nikon d7000 and lo and behold it does not fit - I assume I need an adapter. But what adapter? I’m also interested in buying another camera on which this lens would fit, but cheap! That way I can leave the 18-200 on the Nikon. I reiterate - I do not know what I’m doing. Thank you. 🙂

The only reason I can imagine it doesn't fit is that it has a Canon mount, rather than Nikon. As far as I know, there is no Canon to Nikon adapter.

Are you sure it's for a Nikon camera?
Does she own a Canon?
Not interchangeable.

First, ask your sister what camera body the lens fit when she owned it. For example if it is a Canon mount, then check with places like Adorama or B & H Photo for an adapter from Canon to Nikon.

Second, ask if the adapter will impact auto-focus. You may be better off selling the 150-600 lens and getting Nikon specific mount lenses.

It is nice to have two bodies for your two lenses. Look at some of the upgraded models in th D7xxx product line.

A used Canon rebel t7i or t8i would be a solution and cheap. Could sell that lens but why buy a lens if it doesn't fit on your camera? Maybe your sister needed the money?

The add for the lens said the d7000 was compatible - so maybe a canon is in my future?

You might find someone to unload the Canon mount lens and get a Nikon mount lens.

If you want to use that lens then look here at the Canon USA refurbished store's selection of dslr's, any of the cameras on this page will work with the Tamron with Canon mount - do not get a mirrorless because it will require an adaptor and all functions may not work.

The two best reasons for getting a camera from Canon's refurbished is 1) the factory techs have given it a more complete inspection than most new bodies get coming down the assembly line. 2) it comes with the same factory warranty as a New In Box camera. I have bought two bodies from Canon refurbished and could not tell them from NIB except for the box they come in. We have had zero problems with those cameras and for one of them it is going on 6 years now.
