Tony and Chelsea Northrup chose the Google Pixel 6 Pro as the best cell phone camera, with Apple in second place, and Sony in third. For their other "Best" choices, you can find them on YouTube - and point out all their bad choices.

If the camera was the most important phone feature for me, I probably would be using the latest Google Pixel or iPhone. But, it is a secondary feature that I use only occasionally and don't want to to compromise on other features that I have been comfortable using on my three past and present Samsung Galaxy phones. My current Samsung is the Galaxy s21 Plus. Based on my requirements and usage I would not give it up for the Google Pixel, and certainly not for an iPhone. It seems that for many, the camera is the most important feature of their Smart Phone. Not for me. I use my phone for hundreds of different tasks, many of them, like posting here, I do daily.

LG and Samsung come out of the same factory. While different corporations, same product result. South Korea, government owned. Just different branding.
Think of it as Buick and Chevy as we know such in the US; same company with marketing differences.

I have a pixel 3a think it takes excellent photos. I've had Samsung phones and will never buy one again because of the bloatware they pack into them. LG and Pixel phones seem to have gotten past the bloatware BS.

How long ago did you acquire the Samsung Phone. The Galaxy s21 plus has very little bloatware and it is deletable,

Although my camera bodies are weather-sealed, my lenses are NOT. Therefore, when it's raining and I need a camera, I'll use the iPhone, since iPhones are waterPROOF to 30 feet (so they say). And that way I don't have to worry about moisture or fungus growth later on.

That is not accurate. The most water resistant phone they make can apparently be submerged to a depth of 6 meters (19.7 feet) for up to 30 minutes. Most pf their phones are not that robust, so it depends on the model you have. This is from Apple's site.

Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Liquid damage is not covered under warranty, but you might have rights under consumer law.

iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR are resistant to accidental spills from common liquids, such as soda, beer, coffee, tea, and juice. In the event of a spill, rinse the affected area with tap water, then wipe your iPhone off and dry it.

So, I misquoted just a bit. Geez. I never meant to suggest that the iPhone could be used as an underwater camera for snorkelers and SCUBA divers. But certainly CAN be taken out in the rain without worrying about being damaged from the wet stuff in that context.

I will say that I will continue to use the iPhone as much as those Samsung folks are praising theirs. They say no way will they use an Apple product and I say no way will I do anything BUT.

Ditto!

I'll admit, I'm an Apple Fan-Boy. Been a user of Apple products since 1990. Bought my first iPhone, the 4s, back around 2011. I've changed to the 7 after that, and then last year the 12 Pro. I though the camera in the 7 was amazing and it took awesome video. But the 12 Pro leaves earlier iterations of the iPhone in the dust. Supposedly, the 13 is even better, though only marginally according to the numbers. Still, I've taken photos in poor lighting that the D7200 would have struggled to do. Video is near broadcast quality, if not exactly. No complaints.

Yep, I am with you KB.... iMac, iPad, iPhone and never looking back. Don't really care about which phone is best because not many here could even differentiate between pics made from ANY of the top phones. I like the cloud and everything integrated.

I don't even care if my cell phone has a camera. It gets turned on for a few minutes every couple of months.

I use DXoMark.com for objective reviews. Here's their top 10 USA phones. The Apple 13s and Google 6 are pretty close. If you go beyond USA phones, the Hauwei P50 scores 144 and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra scores a 143. I wonder why Apple let's Hauwei and Xiaomi best them.

First, DXO evaluates sensors not cameras.

Second Apple does not let anyone best them...they have no control over it.

You are right for dslrs and milcs, but DxOMark.com is doing something a little different for cell phone cameras. Please see https://www.dxomark.com/dxomark-camera-version-4-what-does-it-mean-for-the-rankings/

I worked in R&D for a fortune 150 company for many years, initially as a design engineer for image processing systems, then supervision, project management and eventually as the Director of Applied Research. A company decides whether it wants to be the technology leader in a given market or not and spends accordingly. Evidently Apple has decided being the technology leader in the USA, but not the world, is enough for them. As an engineer, I'm a bit disappointed, but as a business person, I understand not wanting to spend the money to compete globally against government backed companies, especially if I want to sell into their marketplaces.
