Beautiful!!!!! We have nesting pairs here in Michigan also, but I have never seen anything like your photos.
I have been interested in this bird since I was about 7 or 8 when I'd see them near the creek on our farm. So big that I could see them by the creek 1/4 mile away,, while I watched through the kitchen window. I remember my father saying, "That is a blue Heron.".
Your photos bring back memories. Thank you for posting them.

This series may be the best pair of Great Blue Herons at the nest I have ever seen. Mating was a +.
