I presume this is an example of the 84%?

Depends what you call "money" - are you sure we're not mistaking money for peanuts?

My simple answer
Architure and interiors/commercial.

I don't understand the verbal abuse here.

At least I know how to answer a question.

There are many here who despise me from the attic and fail to sepatate other sections and carry that hatred here and elsewhere.

But what percentage of people trust your source?

Don't mind him. He knows a lot just has not learned how to play nice. I wonder where his stated information came from? "Recent study"???? Why not name the source?

I assume he was being facetious, calm down.

I don't go to the attic - but what I know is - you are a good photographer - and I like your stuff - and look forward to viewing it.

In 2019 the average wage in US was 51,916.27. Who made more than that from photography?

When I had my wedding business, I made more than that for a couple of years when I had stringers. It got really tough though running a full time business and a education career.

Those who make money from photos what percent of income would you say is derived from the following:
Birds in Flight
Birds in general
Wildlife excluding birds
Sports (All types)
Architecture
Macro bugs
Macro flowers
Landscape
Moon/Astro
Weddings
Nudes
Portraits of all other types
Scientific
All other photos

Just wondering what actually has any monetary value and especially enduring value to those besides the photographer alone.

Edit: some people overthink things or do not know. So to help read below:

If you do not shoot a category then ignore it.
Very simple.
If all you do for money is weddings then just say weddings 100%
if two categories then say 20% this and 80% that.
So simple that anyone can do it

When I did a couple of shows, birds in flight images do not sell. Beautiful portraits of birds in an interesting setting sold, but not well.
Local unique landscape images sold the best.
You will find it very difficult making money from prints.

Thx for the information.
As is well known, value is what others perceive as value, NOT the creator.

While all of your suggestions have merit - people mostly buy pictures of themselves

I consider myself a professional—double-major in photojournalism/English—even though I own a “secular” business that pays the bills.

90% from Sports
10% from Events

The total photographic income is about 1/2 of the 2019 average posted earlier. Why? Over half of my work is donated to ministries and charities such as the Boy Scouts.

Before anyone slams me for donating work, and thus ruining a paying opportunity for another professional, please note: I only donate my photo work to groups who would otherwise resort to a green volunteer with a smartphone. I’m very careful not to take money out of the hands of a working professional.
