Nice image. Was surprised to find that all Calicoes are female. Kind of begs the question of how do you make a Calico.

You sure they're all female? Perhaps some are just confused!

All Tortoise shell colored cats are female also. Usually a calico mama will have 1 or more calico kitten(s) in the litter. Another possible calico producer is a gray tabby and an orange tabby pairing.

Another genetic oddity is a solid white cat with both eyes blue will be deaf.

Just to be sure, I googled calico cats and this, in part is what it said

In cats, the gene that dictates fur color is located on the X chromosome. Nearly all calico cats are female, so they have two X chromosomes. The rare male calico cats have one X and one Y chromosome.

I think that the rare male calico must be very, very busy or there's something else mysterious going on here.

My feral calico mother cat always had 4 kittens: orange/white chest, black/white chest, light grey, (all Tabbies), and white. Her last litter had 2 additional off-white kittens. I had her fixed after that one. She continued to inhabit my yard for many years, and I found her dead near the door one morning. She was buried in my yard.
