This is "John Ford Point". There location is in Monument Valley is named for Hohn Ford the movie director. Unlike a lot of places I photographed, you do not need permission from the Navajo tribe to get there, although I recommend vehicle with 4 wheel drive.
You can also make arrangements with the Navajo to have a tribal member, in traditional dress, to ride on a horse and pose for you on the point.

Fantastic pic. Really captures a mood with so much detail. Can imagine a warrior in the foreground sitting on his horse in battle regalia etc. Reminds me of the old Columbia Pictures movies of cowboys and Indians.

Wonderful, I love Monument Valley. It’s a bit out of the way from the big 5 of southern Utah but much more dramatic IMO. John Ford filmed a number of famous westerns here with John Wayne including Stagecoach and The Searchers.
