A Collection of Almost(s)

This Raven/Crow and a companion were going from place to place checking out the peanuts I put out and a couple of the water dishes. If it is a crow it a really huge one.

1. Almost got a shot of it with a peanut but it took off going behind plants.

2. Almost got it framed well in mid-air. It was in the upper right of the frame so this sort of awkward crop.

3. Almost got it in focus, the AF locked onto the near wing. The head and eye are soft.

1. Almost got enough of the tail to count the pinion feathers. Ravens are said to have one more than crows.

4. Can almost see if the tail is fan or wedge shaped - appears wedged to me, BUT! If wedged it is a raven.

5. Wing is almost spread enough to see if it is a raven or a crow based shape in flight.

I am almost feeling well enough to really care and go take more pictures. Last Friday afternoon I had a sudden onset of severe vertigo. I went from fine to the world was spinning in 3 different directions and I started to throw up in about 5 seconds. At my age it could have been a stroke so "911". It happened again in the ambulance 30 minutes later. Then Kaiser informed the Paramedics over the radio to divert to another hospital as they weren't admitting new patients (Union notified them of a strike starting the 15th so no new admissions and they started to transfer people to other facilities.) So instead of Kaiser Riverside I went to Corona Regional only 8 blocks from my house. I had a couple more bad episodes Friday night and Saturday but then they started to go away and by Sunday afternoon they sent me home and only one minor and very short attack of vertigo Sunday night, none since. CAT Scan and MRI found:

1. I do have a brain in there

2. That brain appears normal for someone my age so it is an inner ear problem aka "Positional Vertigo".

At the hospital they had me taking prescription anti motion sickness meds, here at home I am on over the counter "Sea Sick" pills. No driving until it has been 2 weeks since my last attack.

I have about two weeks worth of shots I haven't processed so I will play catch up for things to post. I took about 10 shots out the door since I got home. Maybe tomorrow I will be taking pictures again.

Thank goodness you are going to be OK. At least you know it was not your heart or brain. I enjoy your comments and photos. Stay safe and take care of yourself.

That is a great capture! Hope you get to feeling better. I had a bout of verigo years ago and it was the worst thing ever.

Thank you

When the doctor told me the results of the CAT and MRI I mentioned the old thing about being Sea Sick:
"At first you think you are dyeing and pray you won't. After a while you know you aren't dyeing and pray you will." Then later it is just a bad memory.

Got vertigo a couple years ago. The doctor told me to hang my head vertically, kind of stand on your head thing. Took a few tries and brain spins, but its worked.
Seems the tiny grains in your ears get stuck and dont float if you're mostly upright.
Wish I would've known it years ago.
Now I can bend over and look under the bed to find the cat without getting dizzy.
