Hallowe’en was alive and well here in northwest Alabama. We used to get about 300 kids and I made up bags for them. After last year’s poor turnout I decided to give out what I wouldn’t mind having on hand should there be leftovers. I bought 200 Capri suns and 200 bags of chips, Cheetos, etc. Each kid was encouraged to take a drink and a bag, while using witch brooms to stay socially distant. I ran out of treats by 7:30. Should have prepared for the old 300 guests.

The weather yesterday was seasonal...temps in the mid fifties, mostly sunny.
As usual we were prepared for Halloween. Normally car loads of little beggars are chauffeured to our sub-division for this annual even. Last year was understandably slow considering the pandemic.
This year was even slower. My wife keep count and only 10 kids came to the door. I remember times when the door bell rang almost every few minutes.
How was your Halloween?

Halloweenn is dying only for those who think annual celebrations are too far apart! This board will disolve into nothing while Halloween is being celebrated. Maybe you need a longer attention span?
The past couple of years we've had some lower numbers at the fire station but still numbering in the hundreds. Hopefully next year we'll have put the china virus behind us and can have a really good year. Three years ago we had over five hundred come through and bear in mind that our little town is less than five thousand strong.
My granddaughter (12 years) was the only kid in our subdivision that went trick or treating - and this was probably her last year...
I really feel bad for the kids today. They really don't seem to know what childhood is all about. My son often reminds me that I was fortunate to grow up when I did. 75% of the fun of Halloween was spending the month before it arrived deciding on what you wanted to be and then scrounging around for the makings. I noticed this year that there were very few houses that bothered to put up Halloween decorations and I didn't see one kid come around our neighborhood. Sad, just plain sad that a holiday that used to mean so much fun and adventure for kids, has lost all its allure.
I live in town now. When I lived on the farm, I had several ring my door bell. Not even one came to my door this year.
Around 150 which was better than the 5 last year. Early on was young kids and families (and a couple of mom's trick or treating with a glass looking for a beverage). After 7:00 the kids got older and around 8:00 it was teenagers. I enjoyed everyone of them:)
