Airport identifier name for Sioux City, Iowa is, wait for it, SUX
I managed 11. Our city had a major U.S. highway (not an interstate) added back in the early 60's, that was supposed to diminish congestion on the "Business" highway. To save costs they skipped putting in cloverleaf's and on/off ramps. Instead, they added stoplights at all major intersections. We are now "Stoplight City".
Meh...
Not all nicknames are flattering. For a while Cleveland, 35-40 years ago, had the moniker of the "Mistake on the Lake" Long gone, now the Home of Rock and Roll is more appriopriate.
Newark, NJ is "Brick City"
