Was it "Jesus's Last Dinner"?

I think that depends on who wrote it and who translated it a the end of the 15th century. What we do know is that Leonardo da Vinci painted it. Would he not have used the term he would have used every day at that time?

Depends on to whom I'm speaking. Same with lunch vs. dinner.

Do you call the evening meal "dinner" or "supper"? I've always called it "dinner," but it seems to vary around the country and the world.

Growing up in the deep South, dinner/noontime, supper/evening meal.

It takes a big meal to be called dinner here, but, really, what is the difference?

Growing up in the South, we referred to the family daily evening meal as Supper. The main meal in a Sunday, however, was called Dinner (Sunday Dinner) - it was usually had between 1 and 3 pm. The evening meal on that Sunday was referred to as Supper. Also, any formal meal where others dined together was called Dinner.

Stan

That fits my time growing up.

I was at my son's house earlier this week for a visit with the grandkids. I was in the backyard with my three year old grandson and asked him if he was ready for supper. To which he replied "Papa, what is supper?" ;) Supper/dinner were interchangeable when I was growing up and when I was raising my kids.

As I remember as a kid growing up, we called it supper. But nowadays, it seems to be called dinner. My brother called me earlier this week and asked if I wanted to come over for dinner Friday night.

Well - that's the point - there is no difference so long as we all understand what we are referring to. Perhaps one day we will say "main meal" and "small meal" leaving breakfast as is. (French for breakfast is "petit dejeuner" or small lunch).

If you're buying, you might well be looking at a menu with section headings "Lunch" and "Dinner". That means you will be calling it what the restaurant likes.
