No one has mentioned the Slideshow module in Lightroom. Is it low on the "prefered" list?

It was meant primarily as a “proof presentation” tool for pro studios to sell portraits and event photos. It’s not very capable compared to dedicated media composition tools.

I too was a happy user of ProShow Gold until it didn’t work anymore. I now have PTE AV Studio, not a subscription but fairly priced for an incredible program. I think they still have a free trial so worth a look. It’s similar to ProShow but I think it has even more flexibility if you want to play with it and really learn it.

Do you have the Standard or Pro version of PTE AV Studio? And if Standard, is there anything significant that is missing?

I have the standard version. I haven’t learned nearly as much about it as there is to learn yet but don’t feel anything is missing. I think there is a lot more ability for customizing than ProShow (which I knew well). Check Barry Beckham’s YouTube videos. He is very helpful.

I'm still using proshow gold. It's installed on my desktop in windows 10 and on a laptop with windows 11. I did run into an issue quite a while ago when it started saying that the license key was invalid (might have been after their website became inactive). I found a solution online to fix, but don't recall the exact steps that were required to fix. I think it just involved deleting a configuration file after install and before entering the registration key.

Berkphoto made a perhaps derogatory remark about the "fat butt" of accountants. "Then came PowerPoint to ruin it all. Multi-image died off in the mid-1990s. "Too expensive..." said the beady-eyed guys in accounting with the big butts." Berk, Some people like "fat butts." I will remind Berk that accounting is one of the most popular in-prison educational programs. Decades ago the bulletin boards in the back area of Post offices were covered by murders and accountants. No auto mechanics or photographers. That puzzled me as a child. [humor]

Berk also mentioned "mid-2010s, we had 4K video" yes we live in a tech world in which simple excellent photography almost requires a degree in programming. NVIDIA has Python programming which is required for the installation of some AI programs directly on one's computer. Example Google's DeepDreams. I changed video cards for that reason... installing the DeepDreams program is still on my "been-gonna" list.

On the rare occasions that I make slide shows, I still use the Ashampoo Low-cost versatile program. Regarding video snippets, I am wondering that since Ashampoo will take MS Office PowerPoint, then will Ashampoo accept PowerPoint slides containing snippets of video???

One would have to have a linked file for the video... perhaps it may work...
"Depending on the version of PowerPoint that you're using, you can insert an embedded video (the default behavior) or link to a video file stored on your computer." What do you think Berk and others??

Thank you, dpullam. I've been looking at Ashampoo...also PTE-AV 10. Like them both. But I'm still waiting for PhotoStage techies to get back to me to see if they have a fix. If they can...I'll stay with it. Otherwise....

Never thought about connecting Power Point.

Sorry… I had a certain corrupt, beady-eyed, big-butted accountant in mind who was the poster child for that incident. He eventually got canned for visiting brothels on a company business trip to “Nawlins.”

Nothing personal… I took accounting as an economics major. I learned I wasn’t one, and have had since, the highest respect for honest CPAs.

Since you were interested, I search a bit more, the "biteable" tutorial [referenced below] comes with stepwise photos of where to click ... great!
Part of the text:

"Why is video so special? It’s predicted that by 2021, online videos will make up more than 80% of all consumer internet traffic. And yet, only 4% of presenters utilize video during their presentations.

This is surprising, considering that viewers retain 95% of a message’s information when they watch it through video. Compare this to 10% retention when reading text, and you can see there’s a huge opportunity to make your business presentations snappier and more engaging.

Whether you’re selling an idea, product, or strategy, you’ll capture the attention of your audience much more effectively with a video. Say goodbye to droopy eyelids. You’re entering a whole new league of PowerPoint presentations."

Video is the amalgamation of text, inflective narration, music, stills, motion… the ultimate media assault on the senses.

For just video (no music) there's nothing more simple that putting the selected photos in a folder, pulling one up in Media Player, and choosing the "Slide Show" option. The display time is alterable. I suppose one could have a separate audio file playing in another frame of Media Player.

Video editing software works well… if you’re familiar with the work of Ken Burns on PBS, that’s the sort of thing you can do with it.

DaVinci Resolve is free to try. Macs come with iMovie, which I’ve used for 20 years to make videos and slide shows and hybrids of same. Add video, still photos, pan and zoom effects, titling, music, narration, and more… export the results as video and upload to YouTube, etc.

Actually Davinci Resolve 17 is completely free. I have used it for several years and love it.

Try Movavi slideshow and video maker. It's what I use and very simple to use.

I googled "google slideshow program" wondering if Google Has been spending programing monies on such. That lead to "google slides templates" and a drop-down list of many other related topics... wow... If you teach math... yep there is a list of prepared templates... Halloween templates by Google on and on!!!

I am amazed by how much there for the taking material is there. When i did my first slide show there was no Google!
