Great photos, makes me feel I am there! Just for the record and maybe help some of us east of the Mississippi River, if you want to see, feel and photograph petrified wood and huge logs, abeit with out the desert setting, try about 40 miles west of Jackson Mississippi on the road to Yahoo. A large deposit of petrified logs can be found there. There is or was, last time we were there, a large 10-15 acres being operating as a natural reserve. Water well drillers report hitting 4 foot logs 400 to 500 feet underground in that area. Unfortunately, my photos of that area have gone byby!
