I have never seen these little ducks with orange eyes but they are hard to shoot and get in focus, or at least I had a hard time.

Sorry, I didn't know. The mallards in Texas don't have bills like that, sorry again. Thanks for taking a look.

I think they're Shoveller ducks in #3 Nikonian, you can tell by the wide beaks.
Birds on water are tricky things to shoot [camera, not gun!] I always have probs with focus Jtipps.

I'm with you on that Farmerjim -- definitely Shovellers -
as you say - the beaks are a dead give-away.Mallards have a much 'sharper' beak and in females , a grey-blue colour.

Nice shots ! You're right - they are notoriously hard to get sharp...and a shy species too , won't allow one up close.Well done ! Beautiful Shovellers too.

Thank you guys for the comments. I think I took 4 of the shovellers and got 3 pretty good ones but I must have taken 40 of the others and these were the best.
