Butchart Gardens

Some shots from the Butchart Gardens, Brentwood Bay, British Columbia. If you haven't been, and you like flowers, add it to your bucket list. These were taken with a Kodak DX7590 back in 2006. They look good on computer monitors, or small (11 X 14 or less) prints, but probably would not exhibit well in larger prints. All have been enhanced (which is what post processing is), and the last is unashamedly a total reinterpretation of a tuberous begonia. If anyone wants to recreate (for the umpteenth time) the "ethics" of a little computer help, feel free. But, if you object, never repaint your walls with a more pleasing color, since this would be "unreal." Enjoy.

Thanks Joe! I am still sometimes amazed at what the older digitals could do.

My PlantNet app says your "passion flower?" is a Rose of Sharon.

Very nice shots.

I thought it might be something different. The closest I could bring to mind was passion flower - memories from when I lived on Dominica. Thanks, by the way.

Looks like Hypericum (St. John's Wort). Not Passiflora (passion fruit) and definitely not Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syricacus)

Did some Googling after reading this and can now say my PlantNet app totally blew this one...without a doubt NOT rose-of-sharon and more likely a member of the St. John's wort family.

The app is usually right on the money and claimed a 92% surety on this one. Well, you can't win 'em all.
