There are several others like Luminar AI and others. With Luminar AI they have released 4 updates to do fixes and add features. There is a new product announced for next year but for new customers it will be 54.00 and current 35.00. This product is much less monet than LR/PS

I see a lot of complaints about Luminar. It may be less money, but what is more important? The money or the results?

What is the nature of the complaints, and where are you seeing them?

Been using Picture Window Pro for many years It has a workflow function as well as an editor, a masking function, selective color correction, adjustment zones, HDR, Composite function and a bunch of the usual stuff. Most edit functions preserve the original file. $70. Many years ago. I use it primarily for street photography , no complaints

PWP is now free/donationware: https://dl-c.com/

Hi Royce,
I used to use ACDSee and looked at it again when I decided to move away from Adobe's subscription model. I ended up choosing Luminar AI and Affinity Photo. Affinity can do pretty much anything Photoshop can do. Luminar AI has a fairly nice DAM and updates are pretty regular. There's a new Luminar Neo program coming in the winter that will include layers (AI doesn't have layers, which is one of the reasons I also have Affinity). Luminar AI and Affinity Photo are both pretty easy to use and give me what I want in photo editors for decent prices.

I agree. I've been using PS Elements 11. I like working on the actual image, and saving a file with every change. I feel the picture is mine, and not shared with a mile long list of program developers. Works with Bridge 3 for filing.
Trouble is: I have PSE 13 but it won't work with this old version of Bridge, so I don't use it.
And, if I update my 2008 MacBookPro, I may need to get 'newer of everything,' but the 'sales people' like to let me think I am running on 'borrowed time.'
Sigh!

I'm not a salesperson, but I DID have a 2008 MacBook Pro. It died on me twice. There was an nVidia chip in it that was faulty. Apple had to replace the motherboard. Then, the RAM was defective and had to be replaced. The screen was acting up when I finally got rid of it in 2012.

NOTHING is forever... especially computer hardware and software. I am typing this on my new MacBook Air with M1. It replaced an iMac that still works fine after 7 years, but can't be upgraded to MacOS 11. I still have a 2010 Mac Mini used as a media server, and a Power Mac G4 from 1999. Both work, but are not on the Internet due to security concerns.

For the money ACDSee is a great program. I have used it for 15 Years along with photo shop. However, it is so easy to use.

You get complaints from LR/PS because it doesn't do as much as them. It wasn't supposed to. The folks at Luminar have been working hard to fix any bugs and add new features. I don't do any professional work anymore and I find I can do pretty much anything with it. The sky replacement blows the doors on PS. Luminar AI can be used as a plug-in to LR and PS because many things are easier to do.

Since I don't have Luminar, I can't compare them. Could you show us an example of how it does better than PS?

Picasa is NOT now Google Photos. I use both on the same Windows computer and they are different and don't interact with each other.
