One of the comments on here praising mac computers is that they never get viruses that is simply not true they I believe the Lion operating system because it was hacked so much and I believe they are trouble wit5h their latest software now.
If people want to buy mac computers then do so but what if you want to change a component can you do that as easily as a pc i doubt it as I have said previously the only apple item I buy is a granny smith or an English coxes pippin.

John, I agree with you on the virus issue- when I was buying my first Mac I was corrected more than once by the Apple folks that the Mac could not get a virus. You mentioned that you would want to change components-which ones?
One of the things I think that make the Mac better is that all of the components are Mac "products"-built for the Mac
and not something that is not used on that machine. nlvhal

With regards to viruses, Macs are basically immune. Not 100% as John and Nivhal mention BUT, in reality, there is no comparison between Mac and PC with regards to total numbers/frequency and to say otherwise is a little disingenuous to those not in the know.
I agree with Nivhal in that when a company makes the software and the hardware and tests both together, chances are they will work extremely well together. This is simply logical. Like I said, I use both in my daily work life, I prefer the Mac because....it works trouble-free.

Except for the new M1 device that is Apple proprietary, all the other electronic components in a Mac are the same as a PC. Same Intel CPUs, same SSDs (unless attached to an M1 CPU) same hard drives, same outsourced power supplies, same resistors, same capacitors - Apple doesn’t manufacture any of those things.

I suspect that Mac users would also by the type of person who likes self drive Teslas.

But that wasn’t the question - the assertion was that their components were a better quality than PCs.

Regarding the OS, In what respect is it better? Please provide specifics.

The components are the same (although maybe the MACs components are made in a Chinese tofu dreg factory). Unfortunately comparing the OS is like comparing BMW with Volvo. Nothing really different. I personally find the Mac OS to be obtuse with too much hidden but some people need/like that. The same way they would like to opt out of having to actually drive a car.

The OS is different in the same way that the user interface is different between editing programs. The results may be the same. The process is different.

I agree that Apple likes to show you what they think you need to see and doesn't show you what they think you don't need to see. Apple is in charge here, not the user. And yes, that fits some people just fine. There are people who don't want to know the details. I will admit that Windows does some of that. A new computer will show you a list of files but will hide the extensions. But it's pretty easy to change it to fit the user's desires.

Both systems crash occasionally (the BSOD is an ancient Windows phenomenon, but it has pretty much disappeared with newer versions of the OS. Crashes happen without it). Both systems need an occasional reboot to address glitches.

Both systems suck at talking to each other. No problems talking between Windows machines or between Macs, but don't try to cross them.

And the self-driving cars are not ready for prime time. You still need someone behind the wheel, and it's like being a night watchman. Nothing happens most of the time but you have to be ready for anything. A recipe for falling asleep or being strongly distracted.

Not the first time in this thread you’ve demonstrated that Kiwis can be AHoles.

That is another way that an American express's his dislike to being told the truth. Using a Xi Jinping technique or wolf warrior attack by calling names.
It would be most interesting to see just who likes to drive a self driving car and the reasons why. I suspect it is someone whose only interested in getting somewhere and not the process. ie a MAC user.
And it is really odd. I feel you can class Americans into two camps. Those who do care and those who just don't care at all and not much of a spread between them. Some Americans just HATE being told anything but others will listen and maybe take some things into consideration. We have some of both types also but as a percentage those who hate being told anything is much smaller.

I don't drive a Tesla and, in fact, I've never owned an automatic car in my life. All my vehicles, muscle cars in the 60's, old VWs, MGs, old Porsches, pickups and all my motorcycles - standard transmissions.

But that's not the point- it's your unnecessary, self righteous digs in this thread for no reason other than to display your own self importance. I get it- you like pc's and find those who don't conform to you view of the world are somehow lesser individuals.

If there's anything small around here, it's your small mindedness. You display it well.
